When I knew that we’re going to watch 3 Idiots, I immediately became excited not because it’s going to be my first, nor send, nor third, but because I have watched it for more than 8 times and it’s one of my favorite movies. Unsurprisingly, even though I almost memorize all the lines in the movie, I still cried while watching it. I believe that it is the most powerful movie that I have watched for it really affected me as a student.

3 Idiots is a movie about the life of three engineering students who went to study at the best engineering college in India. They became the best of friends even though the two other were somehow asked by their professor and fathers to stay away from their friend, Rancho because they believe that he isn’t a good influence especially to their education. The movie shows different kinds of students and how each one of them reacts to different problems. 

The main gist of the movie is that there are different ways to learn and people don’t have the same study manners. I learned that your drive in studying should be what others want you to be because it will be harder for you in the future. I also learned that what others think about you is not important. It is what the important people in your life like your friends and family that is.

The movie taught me to really reflect on what I want to become in the future and how I would let other people’s opinion about my life affect me.

In technical terms, Literacy is a fundamental human right and foundation for lifelong learning. For some, it just means being able to read. Literacy, like many other words used in daily conversations, has a lot of different meaning that depends on the interpretation of each person to describe it. It is deeply known that the invention of writing led the humankind to many other useful creations including those that are very commonly used today. It can be therefore concluded that literacy is one of the most important foundation in a man’s life and we, LTS 1 students, are expected to contribute to at least one child’s literacy progress and it can be started by first knowing the different types of Literacy.

There are a lot of types of Literacy and until today, many others are still being produced. I will give few examples of the most basic types of Literacy that we encounter in our daily lives.

1.    Functional literacy: The level of literacy required to get along successfully on a day-to-day basis. 

2.     Cultural Literacy: Cultural literacy is the ability to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences in the customs, values, and beliefs of one's own culture the cultures of others.

3.    Multicultural Literacy: Multicultural literacy is knowledge of cultures and languages, as well as the ways in which multi-sensory data (text, sound, and graphics) may introduce slant, perspective, and bias into language, subject matter, and visual content. 

4.    Information Literacy: The ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand. 

5.    Media Literacy: Media literacy is an informed, critical understanding of the mass media. 

6.    Biliteracy: Biliteracy is knowing how to read in two or more languages. This type of literacy, in particular, can be observed everyday in the campus because of the many ethnic groups.

7.    Visual Literacy: Based on the idea that visual images are a language, visual literacy can be defined as the ability to understand and produce visual messages. 

8.    Computer Literacy: The ability to use a computer and its software to accomplish practical tasks. 

9.    Mathematical Literacy or Numeracy: Numeracy is a mastery of the basic symbols and processes of arithmetic. 

Dear Caitlyn Jenner,

First of all, I am so sorry that I have the slightest idea of who you are. I mean, I know you because you trended but nothing more than that so I had to research about you which I think I should be sorry for because for a celebrity like you, I know that you must be tired of people trying to know everything about you and giving you 0% of privacy.

Before you became Caitlyn, you were Bruce. From what I've read, you're really, really popular. Excuse my ignorance for I am not a movie kind of person.

I am writing this letter because I want you to know that as a nobody to you, I am very proud of what you did. I wish everyone has the courage and confidence like you. I am very sorry that you had to hide the truth for a long time because of our society. I hope you're in a better place now. Just know that even though there are a lot of people who suddenly dislike you for what you did, there are still billions of people like me who admires and accepts you for who you are.

Please don't ever feel bad about yourself. Keep your head up, princess. Don't let your tiara fall :)

Mission and Vision

Blog entry on the disaster risk management session

We really don't know what could happen once we step out of our houses so being ready is a must. For starters, to prepare ourselves in order to be ready for accidents and emergencies, we should always have a first aid kit with us. Also, to prepare for times when help is needed, we should be knowledgeable of what we need to have in our first aid kits and what we can do with them. As people who were taught nicely of what to do in times where there is an accident like when someone cut herself while slicing vegetables to cook, we are expected to help and apply what we have learned. There are a lot of minor accidents/injuries/health emergencies that we can help in. The session prepared me to become a knowledgable helper in times where help is needed by teaching me the basic steps of what to do in specific kinds of emergencies.

The experience of doing CPR was fun because the mannequin lights and inflates when what we're doing was right.

Environmental protection and managemet

We only have one earth. We were born here and this is the place where we made a lot of memories with the people we love. Will we just let this place stumble and die little by little? It is very important that we be conscious of our earth's condition because if we, the people who lives in it doesn't, who else will? This place has given us a lot more than what we deserve and don't we all have a responsibility to somehow give back to it? We owe it every second of our memories. If it weren't for our precious environment, we won't be able to jog in the morning, swim in the rivers or even just stare at beautiful sceneries.

A lot has been happening lately and we're so busy with our lives we don't even have time to take a look at what's happening around us. Our environment is slowly dying and it's all because of us. People always say that everything starts with a little baby step. Well, it's the same with what has happened to our environment. One candy wrapper thrown at the ground evolved to us almost running out of clean water to drink and a very polluted air to breathe. Most of the reasons why our earth is suffering all of these is because of all our race has done to it. Starting with the very common yet still unsolved problem, global warming. We all know what caused this and now that a lot of CFC appliances are being made, smoke-belching cars, people smoking, people burning the forests, it is almost impossible to control the pollutants of our air. So now, our earth has a lot of trapped energy/ heat and even though we don't see it that much, it has a big effect on our environment. glaciers are melting, polar bears drown, forests burn, etc. Another example of whats going on our environment is the cycle of deforestation, flooding and landslides. People chop down trees in our forests for their lumber and when it there's a storm, there's no more roots of trees to hold the soil thus flooding the area which leads to landslides and we all know what things might happen after all these. The worse part is people don't replace the trees they cut down leaving our forests plain and dry. These effects can all be addressed by making the people knowledgeable about all of it and making them realize that either we all do something for it or literally good happens and we just watch our earth die. I, as a student, am responsible of helping the officials spread the information needed to be spread and do what I can do to reduce the causes of environment's destroyal. I can start with my friends and make them see that I am doing something and make them realize that they too, have to.

The experience of making a filter was fun b
ecause I am really not a garden person even though we have a lot of plants at home and it was my first time to make one.
